| Local Artist Commissioned for Downtown Blooming Grove Mural |

If you have not
yet seen the mural being created on the side of the Hi View Real
Estate Building in downtown Blooming Grove, you owe it to yourself to
do so. Barbara Lewis is the artist creating this beautiful depiction
of the Blooming Grove area from pioneer days to present.
Artist
Barbara Lewis will soon finish painting a historical mural on the
south side of the Hi View Real Estate office building (formerly the BG
City Hall).
Hi
View's Robert Phipps, who commissioned the work, tells us "The general
idea is a historical snapshot of the life and the inhabitants of this
area for the last several hundred years: starting with the indigenous
Indians hunting Buffalo and deer, to the cowboys, to the early
settlers in covered wagons, to farmers working the land for cotton, to
early town life with schools and churches, to the railroad coming, up
through today."
Barbara is also the artist who created the mural at Navarro Mills
Cafe', and was recently featured in the Corsicana Now magazine for her
work with the Corsicana Art League on the visitation room murals at
the Corsicana Child Protective Services offices. Barbara is an officer
of the Corsicana Art League, which meets on the first Monday of each
month at the Senior Citizens Center in Corsicana, and she also teaches
at Blooming Grove ISD
